This and That

So Life has gotten the best of me, yet again.
Who knew that building a house, taking care of 2 boys (well 3 if you count the one I married), and working part time would make me COMPLETELY forget about blogging.  Thus, a few things to tell you about our year in 2010.

1. We built a beautiful house (well, Klausmeyer Construction did) in NW Wichita and moved into it in mid July.  I love having more room and an unfinished basement with potentially more room to expand in the future.  This being our first home we have owned, Carlos and I have a great sense of pride and are excited to make our visions become realities in the coming years.

2.  Quinten turned 1 in April and Garrett turned 5 in November.  Quinten started walking around his birthday and he is now jib jabbering away, saying quite a few words, about 3/4ths of them we can understand. :)  Garrett is in his 2nd year of preschool and loving it!  He goes to Kidslink Mon, Wed and Fri and is ready to go everyday this fall in Kindergarten at St. Catherine.  He is growing up into such a little man.

3. I started working part time at LSI Staffing the week after Labor Day.  It is very different from the kind of HR work I was doing at Senior but I have learned so much already and there is never a dull moment.  Only working 20 hours a week is nice since I get to have the adult time and time spent at home with my kiddos.

No other major changes, just everyday life as we know it.  Right now the kids have thoroughly filled the entire house with their toys so I should probably quit blogging and start the nightly ritual of clean up, pj's, teeth brushing etc.  Quinten just crawled into my lap with pacifer in mouth and blanket in hand.  Until next time....

Da Da Da

The title of this post is Quinten's favorite thing to say, over and over and over again. No "Ma ma ma ma" yet. I get no love. This is a lie, I stay home with the boys so I get plenty of love! He is 11 months old now and wants to walk around with his brother soooo bad! He is pulling up on everything and letting go every once in awhile. I can't believe it was almost a year ago that he blessed our family with his presence. They grow up too fast!

Garrett is on Spring Break right now from preschool but I don't think he has a clue. Not quite old enough yet to cherish those breaks from the weekly grind. He is growing like a weed and we are all wondering where his height is coming from! When you have a Dad who is 5'8" and a Momma who is 5' 2" it make people wonder! Must be from some older generations passed down through recessive genes. Needless to say, I've started buying clothes in the boys section of the store for my 4 yr old.

The biggest news in our little family right now is that we are building a house! We will hopefully break ground within the next two weeks. Carlos and I are gearing up for the task of picking out paint colors, brick, flooring, cabinets etc. We're hoping we can move into our new home in mid July! Here is a picture of our lot. Isn't a picture of grass and dirt exciting?!

And before I go... a picture of my Jayhawk babies!

And almost a YEAR has gone by, wow, I'm horrible at this...

Well folks, this post is squeezing in right before a year from the last one! That has to be a record for blog laziness. If you ever read this, you might notice that I changed the layout a bit and added a few gadgets. Namely, the virtual fish to the right of this post. We have fish in the Chavez household but I'm sure the lifespan of the blog fish will far surpass ours at home! :)

Since December 22nd of last year, many things have happened to our little family:
1. Quinten Gabriel Chavez decided to arrive a day before his due date in the middle of the night, just like older brother,
Garrett did. On Easter Sunday, April 12th, at 12:26am (what can I say? my kids are late night partiers) He was 7lbs 3 ozs and 18 inches long. Throughout his babydom thus far, he has kept with being smaller than Garrett was at this age. But what he lacks in physical size, he makes up for with an AWESOME personality. I've never seen a baby smile as much as my Quinten does.
2. Carlos got laid off at PSI in January and got to be a stay-at-home Daddy with Garrett! He started his job at BioNext in May while I was on maternity leave a week before I was to return to work. This job for him is such a blessing for our family. They are very flexible and understanding about family and value their employees very much!
3. At the beginning of August, after only being back to work after having Quinten for 2 months, I got laid off from my job. The economic downturn t
his year hit our family hard! But it was a blessing in disguise because now I am staying home with my little men and I love it!

Before I end this post, here are some pics of the Chavez boys.

A little update...

Well, it's been a month since my last post so I need to catch everyone up.

We found out we are having another little boy come April 2009 and we are very happy! Little Quinten Gabriel Chavez will be here sometime around Easter and he is already proving to be just as full of energy as his big brother Garrett. Day in and day out, mommy gets to feel kicks and jabs of such force that she is beginning to believe that he will be a black belt in karate! Well also have to see just how big the little guy will be come birth. If you ask Garrett how big Quinten will be, he holds his hands about 2 1/2 feet apart somedays and 5 inches apart on others. (The kid obviously has a wonderful grasp of reality in the baby department!)

Christmas cannot come fast enough for Garrett and he asks Carlos and I all the time when Santa will bring him cars and books! We are excited to celebrate the holidays with him!

My baby is 3 years old!

Garrett turned 3 yesterday and I can't believe how time has just flown by. I pulled out his baby pics yesterday and reminisced about Nov. 8th, 2005, when my life changed forever. Garrett sat down and looked at the pictures too and kept asking, "Who is that baby?" Carlos and I are so blessed to have him in our lives and can't wait to meet the next addition to our family! :)
We're still trying to figure out our living situation for the future. We don't know if we'll stay here in our 2 bedroom town home, move to a 3 bedroom apt. or move into a lease to buy house. I'm hoping that the decision is made soon though because I am having the urge to "nest" hard core in preparation for this new baby!
Well, I promise next post, I will post pics. I just have to find the time to figure it out!

Well, I thought I'd try this blog thing out to keep everyone up-to-date on our family. So here goes!

I am 16 weeks pregnant and we are due with our second child April 13th! Carlos is preparing to take his test to become a plumber in Dec. or Jan. and Garrett is going to be 3 years old on November 8th! I can't believe how much he has grown! It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital.

As soon as I figure out this blog stuff more, I'll post pics!
